they are different rules for duck hunting in different places.you can go under google type duck hunting and see what comes up or go to the nearest wildlife management and get a hand book or talk to the local fish and game office.they can tell you more.

So we have been going ghost hunting, any advice?

So...my cousin and I have been ghost hunting, we've gone twice. And both times we have caught soemthing, audio and photo. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions about how to make contact. My best advice that I can give you is for you to ghost hunt during the day, not night. Daytime is when Ghosts are most active. .So we have been going ghost hunting, any advice?
I am with Nesse! The best EVP I have gotten and some of the best photos have been during the day. Also the ghosts are far more friendly during the day than at night. I have an EVP that scared me pretty good which we got at about 9pm. I researched the area we got it from and found out a man committed suicide in his car in that area.


All you need is a voice recorder (is it a digital recorder? Those are the best) and a camera. Digital cameras get you your pictures right away, but some of the best pictures I have were taken with a disposable camera or a cannon 35mm.


You might try using a simple compass. Supposedly it will spin when a ghost is around. I have had the needle move before, but never spin. Also try setting a ball on the ground and put tape around it to mark where it it. Ask any spirits in the area to move the ball. This does work. I have used it in houses I have investigated. Good luck!
The best tool you can bring along is a healthy dose of skepticism. Most things attributed to paranormal experiences can be explained by very normal, every-day things. People tend to find whatever it is they're looking for, so if you go hoping to find a ghost you're likely going to attribute ghostly qualities to things otherwise explained away through mundane means.
Old places with lots of history that have undertaken recent disturbances in the protery or remodeling of the house are awesome places to make contact and bring back excellent footage and audio. Reason being ghosts often attach themselves to their house/land they once lived and are content with the state they left it in. When new owners come and modernize or disturb anything, the unrested spirits become upset.





You may even go where you believe there has been contact with Ghosts before to do your hunt. Leave recording devices unattended and come back to see if you have anything. Sit in a room and ask questions (if you know who you are trying to contact, ask questions that are specifically for them).





Digital cameras are the best for pictures (and some amazing pictures have turned up from ppl just walking around flashing the camera every few frames). camera phones, polaroid and other cameras are known to not pick up light well. They reoccuring show light flashes on the developed photos that are mistaken paranormal but turn out to be duds.





Ghosts dont' turn up on negatives for future reference. If your ';ghost'; some how does, then suspect it to be dust or some other natural phenomena.

Congratulations! You're one of the first I've seen on this forum that realizes the limitations of the .223 ';poodle shooter';. Happy to see that someone else knows the pop-gun round is for WOUNDING people, not KILLING game.


To answer your question, there are several gun makers that are building Armalite clones in larger calibers than 5.56. Most chamber them in the new 6mm SOCOM, but even that is marginal for game, even if you can find soft-point hunting loads.


I personally would go to Bushmaster, Inc. who, I know for a fact, are turning out an Armalite pattern clone, a close copy of the old AR-10, chambered in 7,62 NATO(.308 Win.) the round used by Marine sniper units, and the old M-60 machine gun. The 7,62 will bring down anything you want, and, with the availability of surplus ammo, you'll be able to recoup some of the coin you'll be shelling out for the price of the rifle, altho I don't think it'll be near the $2500 others mentioned.


Best bet: go to http://www.gunbroker.com and either run a search for AR-15 M-16 rifles, or just browse the modern semi-auto category.

The .223 is not a good hunting cartridge. You want something with more knock down power. The .223 in FMJ has penetration power, but it not good for game. Also, most hunting rifles are bolt action or lever action, which are more reliable and easier to aim.





It depends on what you are hunting, but a Marlin 336 lever action 30/30 is a good all around gun for deer and other hunting. You might also try a 30-06 or 7mm.





If you are insistent on a semi-auto, check out the Ruger mini-thirty style rifles. I believe they are .223, but may come in other calibers. They are around $700. Much cheaper than the civilian AR-15 (M-16 version) which is $2000. Go to a local gun shop and browse around or check out www.gunbroker.com for model styles and prices.
Get a Ruger Mini 30. It is 30 Cal. and kicks ***....Nice rifle

You can purchase an AR15 type rifle in cartridges based on the .308 WInchester family ... and they are referred to as AR-10s.





AR-10 type rifles are manufactuerd by: Armalite, DPMS/Panther Arms, Fulton Armory, Rock River and I think Bushmaster. See links below.





Please keep in mind, while you will be thoroughly familiar with the design and function because of your military experience, you may be limited by state game laws. Some states, such as Pennsylvania, prohibit the use of semi-automatic rifles for hunting.

The M-16 is a fantastic rifle, but you'll eventually want to get a semi auto in a larger caliber. Take a look at the Browning BAR, it comes in a variety of calibers and is really neat to look at.
The ar15 in 223 is good for animals up to the size of small deer, but you need to use a good hunting bullet.





You can also get the ar15 chambered in 17 remington, 20 tactical, 204 ruger, for varmits. For larger game you can use 6mmx45, 6mm PPC, 6.5 grendel, 6.8 spc, 300 whisper, 458 socom, 50 AE, 50 beowulf as well as others.





You can get a 50 BMG single shot upper if you want to hunt elephant. Native americans use the 50 BMG for dispatching a whale after harpooning it.





For hunting, it would be best to get a match grade barrel without a flash suppressor, and equip the rifle with a scope if you are hunting small animals at long range.
also look at the the super shorts. I think there is a 25 with similar ballistics to a 25-06
Accuracysystems.com sells an AR-10 chambered for .300WSM this is great pwr in a small package. I had my Mini-14 done w/a 22'; 1';dia. barrel and damn it's heavy but a tack driver! I kept it @ .223 for varmint.





Ar-10's are usually .308 w/10rd. mag but there are alternatives! Depends on how big of game U want to take down!~ I think thae rebarreled rifles start @ $1200 don't quote me though!
You can get AR types in just about any caliber now, from .22LR to .50BMG, .30'06, .308, 6.8, 7.62X39, 9mm, .50 Beowolf, just about whatever you want for $$$$. They can get pretty pricey though. Look at the ads in Shotgun News or shotgunnews.com

You should be able to get anything you can afford. Myself, I'd rather have an M-14 type.
The AR-10 is a 7.62x51 (.308 Winchester) and the AR-30 is a .338 Lapua. Both will work well hunting.

Ideamanbm and Grizzly9 beat me to the answer, but I agree with them 100%. The AR has indeed evolved into an excellent multi-caliber platform. Personally I really like the 6.8SPC conversions that can be attached to any AR15/M16 lower.
Bushmaster makes the best AR-style rifles available to civilians. Go for a Bushmaster in 7.62x51mm. This is a NATO round that is significantly larger and more powerful than the standard 5.56mm.





The 7.62x51 is known to civilians as the ';.308 Winchester';. Many hunting rifles are chambered in .308, and it is very effective for hunting. It is similar in power and ballistics to, say, the 30.06 Springfield round.

If you dont have the $2000 to drop an a AR-15 or AR-10 (the civilian version of the M-16) Then order a kit and build your own and save some $. Also be careful because in some states like the Peoples Republic of California they are considered assult riffle and are illegal.
The AR-10 is essentially an AR-15, a semi-automatic M-16, that accepts an .308 as opposed to the .223 that the AR-15/M-16 fires.

As a child, being raised over seas, I was sung this song in a different version. It was ';Cry Baby Bunting';


The words were to explain the hardships of those of frontier times. It was a song which was sung as a lullaby to help children go to sleep and it was more for the tune , not the lyrics.


It is a mother telling her child called a bunting , that the father has gone hunting to catch food(rabbit) which they would skin, dry out and use during the brittle winters to wrap around the child to keep them warm.


The furthest they can find any documentation to the song and lyrics is that it was composed and published


around 1784. It is a folklore and there are several different lyrics which go to it, depending on where you live at which version you were raised with.

This rhyme was actually one of several that occurred during the Great Plague. The father has gone to get food for the family, the mother is doing chores, the sister is buying thread and brother is buying the shroud for the dead baby. Baby bunting is already dead.


Another such rhyme is 'ring around the rosey, pockets full of posey, ashes, ashes they all fall down'. this relates to the ring of roses that where placed outside the homes of known plague cases. The posey is a flower that was thought to discourage the plague and the ashes were from the burn corpses and homes. ';All fall down'; refers to the number of people who simply fell down dead from the disease.
Sounds to me like it's fortelling of the baby's death due to negligence by the family, thus the ';Bye'; part. If every member of the family is busy doing chores, then something could (or will) happen to the baby.

I know allot of people that use them actually. Good reliable all around gun. I personally use it for trap shooting and sporting clays. If you're looking for a deer and waterfoul set-up, I would recommend an 18.5'; slug barrel for deer and a 26-30'; Barrel for Waterfoul and Turkey. The nice thing about the slug barrel is you can mount a scope or aim-point sight directly to it, so when you switch out barrels, there is no sighting in necessary.


On the cheaper end, you can always get it with a 24-26'; barrel that accepts choke tubes. You would have to check their website for the names/models/range-of-use. You should not need more than 3; ex. 1 for Deer (Slugs/Buckshot), 1 for Waterfoul/Turkey (Tighter Choke for longer range), and 1 for general point-shoot hunting like rabbit and grouse.


Just remember this when selecting the Barrel length: a longer barrel will provide a more accurate long-distance shot, but it's also heavier and harder to manoeuvre in tight bush, like when stalking a Buck. If you can afford the 2nd Barrel, do it. It's well worth it.
