Anyone know when the haggis hunting season starts in scotland?

i'm thinking of going there and i'm looking

for a bit of sport,,,,, anyone know?Anyone know when the haggis hunting season starts in scotland?
It depends in which area you want to go haggis hunting. You'd be better waiting until the grouse shooting season is over %26amp; that starts August 12th. so give it at least a good month to get the haggis at their prime.

They are clever little creatures so you'd best be well prepared %26amp; don't be mistaken in thinking that due to them having one leg shorter than the other that it impedes them in any way......they've evolved that way as it makes running up %26amp; down hillsides easier especially when they run sideways.

Try laying traps rather than shooting them.....they are partial to black pudding....uncooked %26amp; chopped into cubes.

Happy hunting!Anyone know when the haggis hunting season starts in scotland?
Oooh you have to be really careful lol...they might only have 2 legs but those claws are pretty sharp!

Thank you for the giving me the Best Answer......had a good giggle with your question. x

probably starts on the same day as all the royal low lifes start shooting everything in sight,,,thats august 12th but the rest of the year they ride to hounds and kill foxes saying its essential to keep down the fox population,,,i see motor cars etc killing more foxes than enough every day,,,it may have been ';essential';in 1300 ad but thats no excuse now,,,,

but then again these d**kheads have been ';out foxed';by the foxes who now live in towns and cities where these p*llocks on horses cannot chase them and watch a pack of dogs tear them upart limb from limb
please catch one for me. I nearly bought one today! I love haggis!

Why is Holden Caufield's hunting hat red?

Holden Caulfield is the main character in The Catcher in the RyeWhy is Holden Caufield's hunting hat red?
Well, first of all, it is the same color of Allie's and Phoebe's hair, which could mean that the hat is his way of connecting with their innocence. Also, red is a unique color, so it is a way for Holden to break away from the phony world and grab attention. Why is Holden Caufield's hunting hat red?
Yeah the last answer was right, it was because Allie's hair was red.

But according to sparknotes.com:

Holden鈥檚 Red Hunting Hat

The red hunting hat is one of the most recognizable symbols from twentieth-century American literature. It is inseparable from our image of Holden, with good reason: it is a symbol of his uniqueness and individuality. The hat is outlandish, and it shows that Holden desires to be different from everyone around him. At the same time, he is very self-conscious about the hat鈥攈e always mentions when he is wearing it, and he often doesn鈥檛 wear it if he is going to be around people he knows. The presence of the hat, therefore, mirrors the central conflict in the book: Holden鈥檚 need for isolation versus his need for companionship.

It is worth noting that the hat鈥檚 color, red, is the same as that of Allie鈥檚 and Phoebe鈥檚 hair. Perhaps Holden associates it with the innocence and purity he believes these characters represent and wears it as a way to connect to them. He never explicitly comments on the hat鈥檚 significance other than to mention its unusual appearance.
You would wear a red hat so other hunters could see you.

Not to answer the question so much but to respond to the answers, I have to ask:

How would you animal rights folks like it if you were kept in a prison cell your entire life, castrated, branded, fed modified food to make you fatter, and then executed when you turned 25 to go on someone's table? I'd much rather live my life of freedom, and if I do get killed, I'd rather not see it coming. You know, walking around, minding my own business, there's a shot, a sharp pain, and then it's over. I'd much rather have that then be herded into a metal rack, one after another, watching everyone I grew up with slaughtered one at a time. And that's just for beef, I don't even want to think about life a s chicken or pig. I doubt even the worst things at Guantanamo Bay are dwarfed by what these animals have to put up with. As far as being humane goes, hunting is far more humane than buying meat from a grocery store. It allows the animal you eat to live a full, long life in freedom instead of eating tortured prisoners.

As for going hunting with you, I'd sure like to, but unfortunately I don't have a Nebraska license, and it's a bit much of a drive out there.Anyone fancy a bit of hunting tomorrow evening round Pine Bluff Nebraska,?
Tell me, are you really Dick Cheney in disguise?
Your cruel. Killing animals for no reason. How would you like it if I shot you?
ok...
Sorry, I only approve of killing animals in the wild if you need food or they are injured beyond recovery. So if you are just going to make trophies or win a prize, I can't support it.

In your world it would be the same one that you feed mice to. Happy trolling!
A blood hound is great for that kind of things, they're great for raccoon hunting too. They love to hunt period, so I'm sure they would make a grat dog for you. My brother hunts or goes fishing everyday after work, and he has 3 hound dogs for hunting.
Have you considered a Patterdale terrier? Not the bonniest of dogs but born to hunt or so I am told!
Any type of hound really, but if you are trying to find one specially for rabbits Beagles and Bassets.Bassetts are best in my opinion for hunting small game, they pick up the scent with their longer ears and are able to track the scent longer than a beagle. Also being lower to the ground is a better ability to hunt small game as well.

What is good advice for hunting coyote?

Be a good shot. What is good advice for hunting coyote?
good camo, and be very stillWhat is good advice for hunting coyote?
    1. If you are calling coyotes, the most important thing is the wind. 9 times out of 10 a coyote will circle down wind before moving in to investigate. If that coyote smells anything out of the ordinary it will make tracks in the opposite direction, most of the time totally undetected.

    2. Concealmentis a must. Do not sit with the sun in your eyes, make the coyote look into the sun, and set so that the outline of your body is broken up.

    3. Alot of beginners make the mistake of shooting at the whole coyote. With winter fur they look alot bigger than they actually are, so make sure you have a good rest and have a precise aiming point. Coyotes can take alot of lead if the first shot is a bad one. Plus they are very fast learners, a missed coyote is an educated coyote, he will 10 times harder to call up a second time.

    4. Get some videos to watch, you will learn alot watching the pro's in action. One of the best I have seen is Randy Anderson' videos, he teaches alot of calling techniques and stand selection.

    5. Have patience and fun. In my opinion coyotes are one of the most challenging and exciting animals to hunt.

I promise, call in one coyote and you will hooked for life. Good luck!
Hunt very early morning as coyotes are most active then. They seem like kids that just are not ready for bed. Cloudy and rainy days are good too. Night is good of course. Call them is most reliable. Shoot a rifle that is good and flat out to 300 yards if you're not going to call them. 22-250 -.257 Weatherby magnum - .220 swift - 25-06. Of course these are just personal preferences and everybody has their own.
if your calling them be still because i've already had more then one run on me cause they saw me pickup my gun

if your hunting with a bow its is super super hard to have them not see you even if your in a tree. were i live there is an overlap in deer and yote season(well no season for the yotes) and i'll just take out the cross bow in the morning and call in the yotes. its a lot easier to shoot them with a crossbow then they are with a bow
hopefully they are plentyfull, and you have the permission to kill them, even though they are a nuscense, most states it is illegal to kill them. bait them in, with any dead animal you can find. shoot them with anything you have, you might have to shoot 300 yards or so, they are really cagey. I know people that have night scopes on 223 and shoot them at night, hope you can use this info.
Happy Hunter gives good advice. I have been calling coyotes for 30+ years. The most important thing is to watch the wind. If you can't have the wind in your face, hunt with a cross wind and watch the down-wind side. Try to sit in a position where the sun is at your back.

If you are going to try calling, try to get hooked up with someone that has experience, you can learn a lot in a short amount of time. The biggest this is persistance. Coyotes can be called at any time of the day. Be sure you check your state's game laws. Here in Kansas, you can hunt coyotes every day of the year.

    Good Luck!
