What is good advice for hunting coyote?

Be a good shot. What is good advice for hunting coyote?
good camo, and be very stillWhat is good advice for hunting coyote?
1. If you are calling coyotes, the most important thing is the wind. 9 times out of 10 a coyote will circle down wind before moving in to investigate. If that coyote smells anything out of the ordinary it will make tracks in the opposite direction, most of the time totally undetected.

2. Concealmentis a must. Do not sit with the sun in your eyes, make the coyote look into the sun, and set so that the outline of your body is broken up.

3. Alot of beginners make the mistake of shooting at the whole coyote. With winter fur they look alot bigger than they actually are, so make sure you have a good rest and have a precise aiming point. Coyotes can take alot of lead if the first shot is a bad one. Plus they are very fast learners, a missed coyote is an educated coyote, he will 10 times harder to call up a second time.

4. Get some videos to watch, you will learn alot watching the pro's in action. One of the best I have seen is Randy Anderson' videos, he teaches alot of calling techniques and stand selection.

5. Have patience and fun. In my opinion coyotes are one of the most challenging and exciting animals to hunt.

I promise, call in one coyote and you will hooked for life. Good luck!
Hunt very early morning as coyotes are most active then. They seem like kids that just are not ready for bed. Cloudy and rainy days are good too. Night is good of course. Call them is most reliable. Shoot a rifle that is good and flat out to 300 yards if you're not going to call them. 22-250 -.257 Weatherby magnum - .220 swift - 25-06. Of course these are just personal preferences and everybody has their own.
if your calling them be still because i've already had more then one run on me cause they saw me pickup my gun

if your hunting with a bow its is super super hard to have them not see you even if your in a tree. were i live there is an overlap in deer and yote season(well no season for the yotes) and i'll just take out the cross bow in the morning and call in the yotes. its a lot easier to shoot them with a crossbow then they are with a bow
hopefully they are plentyfull, and you have the permission to kill them, even though they are a nuscense, most states it is illegal to kill them. bait them in, with any dead animal you can find. shoot them with anything you have, you might have to shoot 300 yards or so, they are really cagey. I know people that have night scopes on 223 and shoot them at night, hope you can use this info.
Happy Hunter gives good advice. I have been calling coyotes for 30+ years. The most important thing is to watch the wind. If you can't have the wind in your face, hunt with a cross wind and watch the down-wind side. Try to sit in a position where the sun is at your back.

If you are going to try calling, try to get hooked up with someone that has experience, you can learn a lot in a short amount of time. The biggest this is persistance. Coyotes can be called at any time of the day. Be sure you check your state's game laws. Here in Kansas, you can hunt coyotes every day of the year.

Good Luck!
