Deer Hunting In Military Camoflouge?

I am a novice hunter and I will start deer hunting right before the peak of the rut in my area. I have already overspent on my rifle and scope and now I am trying to skimp in other areas. I was wondering if it's okay to hunt in military type camo? The camo is insulated but I don't know if it has the waterproofing of some of the Mossy Oak stuff out there on the market. I will be hunting out of a blind.Deer Hunting In Military Camoflouge?
hunting deer with camo is not as important. You still have to have hunters orange on. A deer can still see you if you have hunters orange on because the vest is one solid color that doesn't blend well with the background. I had 3 deer do a circle around me (while I was in a tree stand) and they saw me there. Everything else I had on was camo. They were very suspicious and tried to get down wind of me. They raised their head up in the air to try to smell me but could not because I was above their heads. After several attempts they gave up and circled back the way they came slowly and unspooked.

The biggest thing is to just wear something that does not give off a lot of light when the sun shins on it. Something like the old light green army jackets are fine for hunting when it is still green. Once the leaves fall then you may want to try something brown to match the trees in the environment or reddish brown to match dead leaves on the ground if you are in the hills.Deer Hunting In Military Camoflouge?
It depends on the laws in your area, because most States require you to have an blaze orange hat and vest while hunting with a rifle, some States even require you to wear blaze orange/camo mix jackets for bow hunting.

You need to look at your local laws to find out if the equipment your using is legal in your County-State, because big stores like walmart and canadian tire often sell items in their stores that are not legal to use in that County or State for hunting, believe me, this happened to me before.

and don't be stingy on the clothing, you really don't want to feel horrible while hunting in the rain, because this can be very discouraging and might cause you to stop hunting, which would be horrible, if you can't afford to get the good stuff, you should try borrow some from somebody, or something similar.

And in the future, please specify what kind of hunting your doing and you could be hunting any animals that go into rut, moose, elk, whitetail deer, mule deer, pronghorn, etc. it helps to specify on yahoo answers k.
it is perfectly acceptable to hunt while wearing military camo. As for waterproofing, you can buy numerous products to spray on your clothing, boots, etc. Sno-Seal comes to mind. But the smell can spook deer. Try packing an Army Surplus poncho for traveling to and from your blind in the rain. Once inside, you should be fine or leave it on
You did not specify what state you are in. Every state has a set of regulations for hunting. In MN the law specifies that you have to have blaze orange on your head and at least 50% of you upper body.

If you need to wear a certain color you might be able to find something cheap like those ';football pennies'; that road construction guys wear.
Yes, it works but there might be some ...LAW that says you have to wear blaze orange, in that case it's up to you. Far be it for me to tell another fella what clothes he has to wear to hunt....Thats why I muzzel load hunt! Hell, I wear brown buckskins and a leather hunters hood( thats with ears on it, like the injuns used) for all you fellas down on the flats .............
Hunting in a blind? Heck, just wear normal outdoor clothing, no need to spend money on extra clothing if you can already be comfortable in what you own. Worry more about what it smells like than what it looks like in since you'll be mostly hidden anyway.
I find that hunting deer in camo is much harder. They really blend in, and even if you see one moving, it's hard to get a good idea of its size.

As for the orange vest, I've never seen a deer considerate enough to wear one, regardless of the hunting laws!
You totally can! :) Thats what I always do! I don't think it is waterproof though but if your hunting in a blind on raining day, i guess you'll be fine with a waterproof jacket over.
I hunt wearing military camo. My favorite is the USMC digital woodland camo.
You STILL need the orange vest in most places to be legal!
YOU NEED TO HAVE ORANGE VEST OR

A HAT.
Yes, I have for years with success.*
