Help with runescape hunting?

I'm doing the ';as a first resort quest'; and i have to hunt the spined larupia, but every time I click on the pit it say's that you have no clue how to set this up. I have everything that i need to make it, but how DO i make it?Help with runescape hunting?
first off you need the hunter lvl after that i think you need to have a knife and a log in your inventory --use the log on the pit ( i think this is how it works it was a long time ago that i was member) you may need to speak with the hunter master nearby there to learn how to do it he's in a hut dressed up as a lion i think.
