What type of Guns do hunters use when hunting? Especially Deer?

This is a question that will vary from hunter to hunter me I prefer a bow when I was shooting a rifle for deer I preferred my 300 Savage or my 30-30What type of Guns do hunters use when hunting? Especially Deer?
Mostly shotguns with deer slugs. Some states allow rifles, some muzzel loaders, you can also hunt with a handgun, compound bow, cross bow, or long bow. What type of Guns do hunters use when hunting? Especially Deer?
Big Game Rifles preferably Bolt Action %26gt;%26gt; 30-06, 308, 30-30, 8mm Mauser, 270, 32 Winchester Special, 303 British, 30-40 Krag, Rifled Shotgun Slugs, 357 Magnum, 44 Magnum.* These are the most popular ones.*
it depends on the state you live in, and their laws. i live in indiana. hunting in state, shotgun 870 express and slugs. out of state {texas} rifle, 30-06.
It depends on your state's regulations, but I prefer a .25-06 or .30-06 bolt action rifle with a very good scope. I occasionally use a pistol when I am ending a season or doing ';cull hunts';, but that is not as effective as a rifle and takes a lot of practice at the range.
Depends on where I鈥檓 hunting. Here in NY some areas only allow archery while others allow archery, handgun and shotgun, and still others allow all the above and rifles.

I personally hunt whitetail deer with a handgun in 308win in all areas that allow firearms to be used.

I only take out the 30-06 rifle when I鈥檓 in an area where I might get a shot at a bear, the seasons run at the same time in some parts of the state.

Most around this area use a shotgun in 12 or 20ga. Once in a great while you鈥檒l run across someone with a 10ga.

In areas that allow rifle the most often seen caliber is the 30-06 and 270.

Some of the old timers still have the same 30-30 they have had for years but of the newer rifles this caliber is rare. I think this is a shame myself as the average shot around here is less than 100yards. The bigger rounds and short mags are over kill on the thin skinned whitetail.

For a more complete answer to your question that will actually help you in your area I would check with your local shooting range or sportsmans club.

While many don鈥檛 use this source your local game commission will also be able to give you what they have on record of the most used type of firearm and maybe even caliber. If they collect this data (some don鈥檛)

One's that go Bang when we pull the trigger. Don't worry, the Deer won't need any earplugs as the sound does not travel fast enough prior to their death.
Mostly rifles that are scoped, many are bolt action. Some are semi auto. Some states only allow shotguns with slugs. Some people hunt with large caliber, high power handguns. My uncle killed a deer once by a shot to the head from a .22LR fired from a rifle. More powerful rounds such as 30-06, .308 and 7mm Mag are more common since they allow more power at longer range, some are military designed, some are designed specifically for hunting. The weapons used vary greatly and there are few limits to what you can find. Some people even hunt with AKM-47's in semi auto with a 5 round magazine, larger than 5 is illegal. Others use old military surplus rifles such as the Mosin Nagant series of rifles. The possibilities are endless.
Most use rifles in calibers from .223 - 300 mags.

Bolt actions are most popular, but there are semi autos, lever actions, single shots, and pumps

Some use shotguns mostly 12 gauges with either buckshot or slugs.

Some use muzzleloaders , mostly .50cal

these are your most common however there are a lot of other

calibers and combinations of rifles, shotguns, handguns and muzzleloaders that some people use. I use all of the above
I use a 12 guage shotgun.
I use a .270 and have killed every deer ive ever shot with it.
well i live in ohio, where you arent alowed to use hih powered rifles. most people in ohio use 12 gauge shotguns, but i prefer the 50 cal muzzleloader.
Deer hunters use handguns, shotguns, and rifles.

Handgun hunters use large-bore revolvers and special single-shot handguns that can be chambered in rifle cartridges, though the rifle cartridges lose some effectiveness in the shorter barrel and require a bit of extra care.

In some states, neither handguns nor rifles are allowed, and hunters use shotguns, typically shooting slugs, and many now have special slug barrels just for that purpose.

Most popular are rifles (and the shorter carbines). These days, bolt-action rifles are most popular, followed by lever-actions, but single shots and even doubles are used, as well, though the doubles are rare due to their expense. Most popular are a variety of small-bore cartridges ranging from 6.5 to 8 mm in caliber are most common, but some of the higher-velocity miniatures and medium-bores are also seen. A few people use semi-automatic military style carbines, though they aren't a good choice, simply because they can be had cheaply for those who can't afford a proper hunting rifle, but that's out of necessity, not because they're a good choice. And then there are the primitive weapons, caplocks and flintlocks as were used in days long past.
Many places have 'shotgun only' deer season, this is usually because there is a concern about where errant bullets will go, and slugs don't go nearly as far. In those areas 12guage are the most common followed by 20 guage, and finally a few folks might use .410s, but most folks consider that pushing it.

In some areas of the country, like Texas for example, the whitetails tend to be pretty small critters, so there the 223 or 22-250 is plenty potent for them. In other areas, especially where deer have a lot of access to corn for food, they tend to grow bigger and .243 is generally accepted as a good lower end rifle for deer. It's not that a 22-250 couldn't do the job on most deer out there, it's just that there are that 10% of real big deer that the 22-250 might be inadequate for.

In the eastern heavily wooded areas, many folks still hunt with lever action 30-30 and 35remingtons and 32 specials. These folks don't go for long shots, so they want a fast handling gun that causes a big wound to stop the deer fast before he runs off.

The most common deer hunting chambering is 30-06, because it is such a multipurpose round, and .270, it's near twin.

Many deer have been taken by poachers using just a .22magnum, which lets us in on the truth. It is shot placement that counts. A 223 through the heart is going to be more effective than a 30-06 through the rump, or guts.

Also, part of the equation is choosing the proper bullet for the job, especially with 223 and 243 type guns. If the bore is .25 or smaller, you want pretty much the heaviest grain bullet you can find for your particular chambering
We use a 22-250. Some say it's too small, but people who can shoot and hit an animal in the right place have no problems.
Like others have said - the rules and regulations not only change from state to state - but sometimes even within a state.

Whatever you choose to hunt with - make sure that you get plenty of practice. You want to have the ability to quickly harvest your game (deer in this case).

Nothing annoys me more than people injuring an animal and I stumble upon it later.
Basically any rifle caliber between .243 and .30. Anything less is really too small and anything more is unecessary. Yes, I know, a .22 can kill a deer but so could a toothpick if used exactly right.

A shotgun, pistol, bow, and crossbows are also used.
ok really good guns are, 30/30, 30-06, and a lee enfield 1917 its a classic, the bullet with go right through both shoulderblades from far distances no problem.
