Federal and State laws state that the felon may not own or possess a firearm. Even though you own the gun, if he his with you he may very well be considered to be in possession.
For instance, the two of you are in your pickup and your rifle is in a rack in the window. Since the weapon is not under your immediate control and access is equally available to either of you, he can be charged with possessing the gun.If i go hunting with gun and im with a felon is he gonna get in trouble even tho i own the gun?
Not sure what state you are in but if he don't have a gun everything should be fine.Best bet is let him go to your state board and ask for his rights back.Just depends on what felony he committed,how long ago it was,etc,etc...
typically a felon can not posses a firearm but also i have heard that they can not even be around one either. I would check out the rules before you do anything that can get you both in trouble,.
Yeah, you'll both get in big trouble. He'd be looking at a mandatory 10 year Federal charge. You would be looking at a 3-5 possible term. It depends on how dumb you plea.
