Is fishing a type of hunting?

There are people who complain about hunting, but why do they never complain about fishing; fish have rights tooIs fishing a type of hunting?
If you accept that idea, do you consider hunting to be a type of fishing? Is fishing a type of hunting?
yes and no.

bow fishing is a kind of hunting for fish.

By the way, do u think shark fishing should be called shark fishing. sharks arnt fish.
Lol.

Yes, it is.

I know that in California you have to have a hunting license to fish.

:/
Yes it is certainly is, it's a cruel blood sport....but....shhhh! Unlike fox hunting which is similar and supported by mostly Tories (so now banned), fishing is supported by mostly working class New Labour supporters so any chance of the Government banning it are nil and then minus a few.
You're confusing animals with people. Rights are endowed on people by people. Animals can not understand what rights are and there for can not have them.
I agree that fishing in its basic form can be classed as a form of hunting. However, in the UK one of the reasons we have any fish at all left in our inland waters is because of the fish stocking and preservation work done by fishing organisations. In fact many have been responsible for recovery and beautiful landscaping of old gravel, chalk and clay pits. The idea that fishing is a cruel sport is of course complete nonsense as fish do not feel pain and the majority of fishermen take great care to ensure their fish are not damaged. It is only trout and salmon fisheries were fish are killed and in these cases it is done quickly and the fish are eaten as food - so no better or worse than any other form or meat production.
yes they have rights the right to get caught and the right to fry and plate with lemon
I think it's just that the fish lack an organised, well structured anti hunting lobby...you have to admit, they are pretty stupid ...
well yes
yes it is
Is picking wildflowers a type of hunting? Of course it is. Wildflowers are people too. I saw them talking and singing in a Disney cartoon.
Fishing does contain one aspect of a ';true'; sport that hunting does not offer. It is called a successful catch and live release. I have yet to see a successful live release of anything having had large caliber bullets hurled at it. No, I am not attacking a hunters right to pursue meat to feed his family with nor am I advocating the release of all caught fish for I think nothing tastes better or is as beneficial to ones self as fresh caught game or fish. All animals have the God given right to taste good when cooked over an open flame.
i would never fish or hunt they should leave the animals alone
yes because you are capturing an animal and thats what hunting is defined as!
Yes, all sentient beings fear death, and fish are also sentient beings.
Fishing is a type of hunting but recreational fishermen do a lot towards conserving fish stocks and the enviroment so that there sport will remain viable, Unlike professional fisherman that drag massive nets around the ocean and catch everthing in it's path (including Dolphins) this 'bycatch' is then thrown away (dead of course) this isn't considered sport or hunting this is commercial vandalism!
i actually stalk fish when I'm in still-waters. i live in British Columbia and some of the lakes are crystal clear with mud bottoms so you can see the fish and learn their cruising patterns then predict where they will happen to go. on rivers knowing where the fish will lie at certain times of the day and season is most important to a successful fishing trip.

i would say yes it is a form of hunting.

on another note the people that complain about fishing and hunting have never purchased a license. the funds for enhancement projects are derived from the fees that fishermen and hunters pay for the privilege. without projects to stock and manage populations of any game (fish or animal) there would be a whole lot less.
Technically, yes.
It is a specialized type of hunting, and is differentiated by several factors: it uses a completely different type of equipment, different skills are needed to be successful, it's a different environment (you don't usually enter the fish's enviroment the way you do a deer's), etc.

On the political side, I guess they're pretty much the same whatever side you're on.
YES IT IS YOU CRAZY MOTHER TRUCKER AHHHHHHHHHHHHH TO MUCH SUGAR AHHHHHHHHHHHH WHY CANT I AHHHHHHHHH STOP AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH鈥?br>

yeah dude its hunting
yesYESyesYESyes
Use your common sense, if you have any. Take your political points somewhere else.
I think fishing is considered a sport.
Fishing is somewhat less objectionable because fish are coldblooded creatures.

DID YOU EVER GO TO A SLAUGHTERHOUSE ?
Yep - fishing is a form of hunting.

Why don't people complain about it? Well it has a lot to do with the fact that animals like foxes, deer etc are 'cute %26amp; cuddly' and have a personality. Whereas fish are scaley, cold and uninteresting.
TEchnically there is a difference. Hunting - you are looking for something. Fishing is to try to get something to come to you.
People who complain about fishing and hunting are totally ignorant of facts. They do not realize the amount of money and effort fisherman and hunters put forth to PRESERVE nature in general because what's good for the environment is good for all.Hunters and fisherman do more for the environment than all the ANTI'S combined. Of course fishing is a form of hunting but you have a choice to release with fishing.Remember that the apostles were fishermen. Would you criticize that too? Your time would be better spent planting a tree by a river (shade for fish, animals homes ) and plenty of nuts you could call friends. Please remember your right to remain scilent.
Well in a way you are correct.

Fishing is a type of hunting.

I guess maybe because we still have more fishes than animals!
Yes of course fishing is hunting, a very cruel type of hunting too.
I totally agree, anything where a living thing is caught and either killed or just chased for the fun is classed as hunting, this 100% includes fishing!
fishing can be a sport, letting the fish go..thats more in coarse fishing tho,(lake %26amp; rivers)

I'd say yes it is hunting if you kill the fish, which happens more at sea.
