Why is deer hunting even a sport?

It's cruel to kill them and leave them to rot. However, killing them for food can be justifiable. Why is deer hunting even a sport?
Because it's a primal instinct in all animals, including humans. There is no greater thrill for a carnivore then to track its prey. And, since it seems most of you have never gone hunting or know a TRUE hunter, most hunters don't just kill an animal and leave it. They even teach you in hunter school to never make a shot you aren't 99% sure you can make, and never shoot towards dusk because it's hard to track an animal at night and it's cruel to leave a maimed animal. I mean, my dad shot a squirrel on time and he didn't even just leave that. He brought it home, ate the meat, and then gave the bones to our dogs. Just because you don't have the stomach to do something doesn't make it cruel or inhumane. Hell, I think it's more cruel for a wolf or lion to tear a deer, gazelle, etc apart with its teeth than for a human to kill a deer quickly with a bullet. Why is deer hunting even a sport?
Darlin,

My sentiments exactly....My husband is a avid hunter...Obviously, I'm missing something....To me it is kind of twisted....Some of these, deers r raised from the time they r born...like pets...to come to the food...so some one can shoot them...Where is the sport Or the humanity in that????
idk but i hate hunting i hate seeing animal getting killed like that
