Is a 3'; or 3 1/2'; 12ga shell better for waterfowl hunting?

i have a benlli supernove and i was wondering if i should use 3 or 3 1/2 inch shells for waterfowl ?Is a 3'; or 3 1/2'; 12ga shell better for waterfowl hunting?
Generally...

2 3/4'; for upland game.

3'; for most waterfowl.

3 1/2'; for geese.Is a 3'; or 3 1/2'; 12ga shell better for waterfowl hunting?
The 3 1/2 shell doesn't always give the best pattern. Often the shot string is too long. This can give the illusion of a better pattern when shooting a pattern board, but in reality the long shot string isn't the greatest for moving targets. The rear of the shot string can be too sparse and result in crippling hits when a clean miss would have been a better result.
for steel shot on ducks most 3'; works just fine. Big ducks at over 30 yds you might want the 3 1/2'; steel or the 3'; ';hevi-shot'; or ';High Density'; loads. You probably don't need BB steel except for the biggest ducks 2 or 3 steel works well %26amp; in close 4s work great. With the heavy nontoxics 5 or 6 works well and 7 or 7 1/2s are amazing on small or medium ducks close over decoys.

Geese you'd be well served with 3 1/2'; steel in BB, BBB and maybe T sizes %26amp; 3'; hevi shot types in #2-4 or maybe 3 1/2'; BB for big geese
I have the same model Benelli and believe it our not, on the range and definitely in the field, 3'; BB have out shot everything else. And, yes, I've tried 2 3/4, 3, and 3 1/2 shells. Can't say the same for turkey loads, but it sure sends steel shot where it needs to be, good luck.
* There has been more waterfowl harvested with 2 3/4 inch than any others for decades.* 3 or 3 1/2 are not needed or necessary to harvest waterfowl or Upland Game like Pheasant, Woodcock, Grouse, Dove etc.*
